The gender gap in the global economy will take 131 years to close, according to the latest data from the World Economic Forum.
But the good news is that women are becoming increasingly empowered to become environmental stewards, contributing to and benefitting from climate action, Mashable reports.
"The Gender Action Plan agreed by governments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change calls for womens full, equal, and meaningful participation in the international climate process," says the site.
"This involvement contributes to more effective, inclusive, and sustainable solutions while addressing gender inequities."
